Gloria Oyarzbal – USUS FRUCTUS ABUSUS
The award-winning project this year addresses themes that are more central than ever to the debate within the art system, concerning the questioning of the museum’s role and how an institution today cannot ignore the new cultural and sociological dynamics that clearly differ from those of the early last century.
The focal point of Gloria Oyarzabal’s winning project, USUS FRUCTUS ABUSUS, is the contemporary cultural context addressed both in content and aesthetic of the images, with strong accents touching on contemporary anthropological themes.
The question increasingly pervading the minds of those orbiting around museum institutions is their decolonization.
The exhibition narratives and languages used to depict “other” cultures have long been misled by a Eurocentric view, and today this cannot be the case anymore; new narratives and broader perspectives are needed. Gloria Oyarzabal has been able, through the language of the body and meticulous iconographic research, to offer an intelligent and refined perspective, pinpointing certain aspects of one of the most debated current cultural issues in the art world with synthesis and clarity, despite the complex nature of her project.
Simona Caprioli – Il buco
Interesting for the technique and the temporal suspension of the images.
