The Hunter

Returning from a hunt, the chief Korowai, brandishing bow and arrows, waits for his wife at the bottom of a tree trunk used a few moments earlier as a bridge to cross the river that flows not far from the village. His eyes are proud and he is ready to show me in his hunting trophies. The Korowai are a hunter tribe, discovered around 1974, which lives in isolation in a remote area of the jungle of Indonesian Papua, on the border with Papua New Guinea but nowadays they are in danger of extinction.
