“It’s like a war… The air still smells of dust and ash…”
Forest fires are an annual occurrence in the Mediterranean, but climate change has caused stronger heat waves and a longer and more intense annual fire season. This summer, too, was one of the worst on record.
This work is an excerpt from a project (work in progress) carried out during the summer in the village of Temeni, Aigio, on the northern coast of the Peloponnese. The work subjective documents the isolation due to the fires that surrounded the family’s residence at the time.
All the love I kept
The work refers to the imperfection of these souls when they cross the line where identities and self-esteem are hurt, providing us with experiences of intense love and intense pain for the sum of all affections, as a reminder that we are fragile and finite.
