In this photographic series, I explore a body, my body, that exists in the dichotomy of being both inadequate and excessive. It’s a body judged for its appearance and function, deemed “not enough” by societal standards. Yet, through years of battling with its issues, I am now slowly finding a way to accept it.My body is one of pain, requiring diligent care and cures. This body has experienced trauma and grief, but mostly, it has known joy, warmth and love. It’s a vessel that I’ve learned to protect and honour despite its challenges. Through these photographs, I aim to capture its resilience story and the many experiences it embodies. Self-portrait series shot with a shutter remote control and a crystal prism to deform the pictures.
