About This Project

Megan Sinclair

Sometimes I am startled out of the present, sometimes startled back into it. I am kept company by a shadow of fear, and its whispers of paranoia hold a grip on the way I live. “The Places I (Long To) Go” opens the curtains to the cavities of my mind. Being a bystander of violence has corroded my sense of safety and grounding, leaving me with unpredictable consequences as I grapple with death. In this delivery of the confidential I offer my perspective of coping with post traumatic stress. Photographing with analog, large format film assists me in bringing slowness into this work as I spend time physically engaging with my psyche. I use props as sensory stimuli to ground myself in my body, and record audio on a hand held cassette recorder; a combination of train of thought, narration of dreams, poetry, and recounted memories.
