Unlike Jean Auguste Dominique’s Ingres original, this contemporizing of ”Grande Odalisque (1814)”, interrogates a different kind of slavery–today associated with the ubiquity of the nude female form online. In 2020, though, this woman does not turn away from the viewer and asks for consciousness about what you make of her.
